Hi! I have a question. I am reading article for my homework and they said ”Next to the left side of the bed was another table that held a lamp.” What is the meaning of "held a lamp"? the lamp hanging the wall? or standing on the table? or anything else? thank you!

"Held" can mean "supported." The table supported the lamp. The lamp was standing on the table. We can say "The bookcase held a collection of reference books, including a dictionary, an atlas, and an encyclopedia." "The tripod held an old-fashioned portrait camera." "The dining room table held a vase of flowers, and silver salt and pepper shakers."

Make sure it's written by a native speaker -- it looks like "there" is missing which is strange.
