All are correct. I do not disagree with the other commenters with respect to style. For example, it is indeed clearer to say #2 whereas #1 and #3 are awkward. However, #1 and #3 are not actually grammatically incorrect. "You" serves both as a direct and indirect object pronoun. Hence, one of the meanings of "you" is "to you", for example "I give you the book" or "I recommend you this book" (although it's better to say "I recommend this book to you"). The word "you" is actually superfluous in all of the sentences. When you are talking to someone, all you need to say is "I recommend this movie." "You" is implied - you don't need to say it.

Hello Farhad. The other teachers are absolutely correct, the second sentence is the correct one. With the reporting verb 'recommend' there are basically 3 options. 1. If the recommendation is for the other person, then we use a 'that' clause e.g., 'I recommend that you learn English every day.' 2. If the recommendation is for both the speaker and listener, we use a gerund (-ing) form. E.g., 'I recommend doing yoga - we can do it together' 3. If you want to recommend an object (a noun), then we use the definite article + noun. So if I was in your favourite restaurant, you might say 'I recommend the lamb' to help me decide what to eat. I hope this helps, and I look forward to reading more of your posts.

Of course, you can say 3 as I recommend this movie to you. Or I recommend this movie. (The ‘to you’ would often be implied by the context.) Another option is I recommend (that) you watch this movie. (‘That’ is optional in general. Here, I’d usually say it to provide some clarity, but it is often dropped)

I'm not sure if this is an absolute rule, but you should generally think of the word that follows RECOMMEND as a direct, not indirect, object. 1 is only correct in answer to a question such as: "We need someone to watch this movie. Who can we get?" i.e. the sentence recommends YOU, not the Movie. 2 is good and very natural. 3. is incorrect, but you could just say: "I recommend this movie." (then we don't have the direct/indirect object confusion).
