Today, I want to write about present situations of high school student’s part time jobs in Japan and other countries. 62% of high school students have never worked and the rate of students who have experienced working but not having job now and who having job now were same. Most Japanese students work at eating establishments, work for sales at convenience stores or supermarkets and Light duty works. Then, why Japanese students are working? Because they want to save money, use money for hobbies and gain social experiences. Now, let’s look at part time jobs in other countries. In the U.S, part time jobs for high school students are quite common. These jobs typically include retail, fast food, babysitting, etc. Many students work to earn extra money, gain work experience or save for college. They have similar reasons for working with students in Japan. How about China? The situation is differ from Japan and the US. Common jobs for Chinese students are tutoring, assisting administration jobs and more. However, they often consider carefully whether they working because they always face pressure due to gaokao.
