Community Tutorsome of the most common mistakes comitted when learning German, and what I hear sooo often walking through Vienna and talking to foreigners-
(and maybe you can find yourself in it ??? :-) )
1. forgetting about adding an article:
In the supermarket I m getting asked : "Willst du Rechnung" ????
thats such a classic, and many persons forget about this all the time.
We need in German most of the time an article:
So all this could work: Willst du DIE Rechnung? Willst du EINE REchnung? Willst du DEINE Rechnung?
so dont forget to put something before the noun :-)
2. Mixing up imperative with no-imperative :-)
Ich: "Entschuldigung, wo ist der nächste Billa?" Antwort: "Gehst du geradeaus, und siehst du Billa auf linken Seite".
another classic- (we call it Ausländer-Deutsch).
BUT:
the Imperativ form comes without the personal pronouns.:
"Geh geradeaus!!! (Und dann findest du DEN Billa auf DER linken Seite") :-)
I know its not always easy, to be attentive all the time, and also not to speak perfect (in case you are one of these perfectionists) :-) , but maybe its good to know about this quite typical mistakes :-)
Good luck!
