A YouTube profile description said 'keep it a buck, join..... family'. Keep it a buck = be honest, real. Is it what it means in that sentence? Or does it have some other meaning? Thank you.

It's hard to say without more context. Maybe: "We're only charging a dollar [for something] now, and if you join your contribution will help us maintain this low price." So they're saying that their low price will continue only if more people join their "family?" That's my best guess.

"Keep it a buck" is American slang for staying honest, similar to "keeping it real."
