An adventure experience is a noun following a noun where an adventurous experience has and adjective before the noun. Either are acceptable in colloquial speech, but an adventurous experience is more appropriate in formal settings.

You can indeed say adventure story, " i enjoyed the film/book it was a great adventure story"and you could say " I went skydiving and it was an adventurous experience. Its difficult i know and doesn't always make sense.
