There was currently a mysterious phenomenon that appears in aurora in Hokkaido which was North Japan. That’s the reason solar flares happen is due to explosions about solar. We can see beautiful Aurora however, it has some problems. In the US, happened radio disturbances due to solar flares such as GPS. I wonder if it's a natural phenomenon, otherwise, I wonder if it happens regularly.

There was a mysterious phenomenon called northern lights (aurora borealis) that appeared in Hokkaido which is located in North Japan. It is caused by a solar storm which happens after solar eruptions. We can see beautiful Aurora borealis but it comes with a few problems. In the US, radio disturbances especially targeting GPS happened due to the solar storm. I wonder if it's a natural phenomenon, otherwise, I wonder if it happens regularly.

Currently means now so you can't really use it with past tenses. It is a natural phenomenon, but the last storm of such intensity happened in 2003.
