To get the most out of journaling you should write by hand in a notebook not typing on a keyboard. One of the key advantages of writing by hand is its tactile nature (it has a surface that is pleasant or attractive to touch). When writing or drawing, there is a direct connection between emotional understanding and motor execution. What does that mean? Well, it means that the process of writing by hand reinforces (make stronger) memory pathways and enhances understanding and memory.
