They'll take Tom up on that generous invitation.(original)
Question:
How to write a new sentence with its subject (being?) the "Tom"?
and its subject being the "that generous invitation"?
I guess :
1.Tom will be taken up (by them?) on that generous invitation.
(I don't know where the the position of the "by them" is in this sentence)
Is this sentence grammatically correct?
2. That generous invitation will be taken (by them?) Tom up on.
Is this sentence grammatically correct?
but somehow I think it is better to say:
Tom's (that?) generous invitation will be taken up (or, will be accepted) ( by them?).
Is my thought correct according to the original?
Pay attention to all the ? in the "(…)", if finding incorrect , please help to correct.

You are obviously a very diligent student!
Numbers 1 & 2 are clumsy and not grammatically correct but your thinking is good!
Yes, you are right, it's better to day: "Tom's generous invitation will be taken up OR accepted by them" is correct.
