About Me

Adult education is my preference and expertise, but sometimes I help secondary school students with their studies. I teach Hungarian mostly for those who speak English (and I also teach English mostly for Hungarians.)
I prepare my students for the Hungarian citizenship interview and the Constitutional exam. This is what I can offer for learners of Hungarian:

2) Citizenship Interview / Exam Preparation
3) Family tree building
4) Hungarian Course A1-C1 (with MagyarOK coursebooks)
5) Literature and Stylistics

I have both traditional (coursebook-based) and casual (prompts, interests or slide-based) lessons. As well as mixed ones. Everything depends on the student's personality, preferred learning methods - but most importantly - their goals.
I prefer the conversational approach from the very beginning and I mostly use model based teaching methods. (This is very similar to how you learnt your native language.)
I prefer using real language materials combined with leveled exercises. In more structured Hungarian Course A1-C1 lessons I also use MagyarOK coursebooks and Practical Hungarian Grammar. The publisher has an excellent, supportive website with tons of audio, video and further materials.My teaching material

I've been working with Ildikó for over 2 years to learn Hungarian for my simplified naturalization interview, which I just passed successfully the day I'm writing this. She's an excellent, very thorough, very encouraging teacher who's instilled in me just as much love for the Hungarian language and Hungarian culture as I can tell she has herself. She's been very understanding and accommodating to help me learn at my own pace, but she's never gone easy on me, always pushing me to speak and understand Hungarian on a deeper level. She's fantastic at tailoring lessons and conversations to who I am; don't be surprised on your first lesson if she's Googled you and already has a lesson plan about your most obscure interests! That is how much Ildikó truly cares about her students. If you're in for the long haul of learning this language, Ildikó is a fantastic teacher to take you on this journey, and will feel like family by the end of it.
