Hello there! You can call me Nel. I am a certificed Portuguese Teacher from Brazil. I grew up in the inner state region of São Paulo, right here in São José do Rio Preto. Besides studying Languages, I also adore cinema, video games, music, writing, and really just art in general. I am a more reserved person, I guess you could say. But that doesn't mean I am shy — oh no! I love talking, discussing and just generally sharing about passions, mine and ours.Me as a Teacher
I consider myself to be very patient and understanding with students. I try to motivate and inspire students, as opposed to pressuring or forcing them. I am also quite good-humoured, and try not to take everything "too seriously", as it were. However, I am always very respectful to each and everyone's privacy, preferences and opinions. I enjoy studying and discussing grammar topics, as well as learning and teaching new words, slangs and idioms. I am a strong believer that learning a new language is far beyond simply studying its systems and functions. Therefore I am always keen to talking and discussing all kinds of topics related to culture, history, literature and what not.My lessons & teaching style
I like to have a coursebook to guide me and my students in our journey into the language. Having said that, I also enjoy my freedom to bring in materials from different sources (reliable ones, of course) to try and provide students with fresh and distinct perspectives about the subject. I would also say I am quite adaptable to the different pacing and learning style of each student, and I try to therefore adapt myself to their way of learning. Some students are slower paced and enjoy taking their time to read and discuss all the details of every activity or exercise; others are more prone to bursting through activities and getting a lot done — I have the experience and the will to help each.My teaching material
