I am a Native English speaker and have experience working in several industries, including Theatre, Information Technology and Grant-making. I am also a Counsellor and Life Coach. My broad experience means that I can engage meaningfully with many topics. I have a passion for people, and the idea of working with you to become more proficient and comfortable with English is exciting for me. I am a gregarious (friendly and sociable) person who is passionate about people. I am an attentive listener and will be a supportive part of your journey in becoming more conversationally fluent in English. My teaching style is casual and relaxed. In my class, the main rule is that we are NEVER overcritical of ourselves. My class is a safe space to learn, make mistakes and explore. I offer two types of lessons - Conversation lessons and Prepared lessons. Conversational lessons are less formal and focused on your interests and requirements. We practise communication through spontaneous conversation, topic-based discussions, and/or role-playing for specific situations. Prepared lessons are geared more towards adult professionals with very specific requirements, such as preparing to deliver talks or presentations, or nailing that job interview. I work to ensure that you always feel comfortable and that our lessons are interesting. I am very happy to use a range of materials to make the most of our time together.

Today we talked about education and how many people around the world fail to appreciate the opportunities that the education system provides, as flawed as it might be. We then explored the nature of power and the relationship between the oppressor and the oppressed, particularly in the context of apartheid. I'm so lucky to have Trevi as my teacher!

I had an exceptionally thought-provoking lesson today while discussing apartheid. Trevi is incredibly eloquent and knowledgeable, and she explained the subject with such clarity, depth and insight that the lesson went far beyond simply practicing English. We also read an excerpt from a book about the subject and talked about that. Thank you Trevi!
