My name is Luke Horton and I am currently a postgraduate student living in New York City. I was born and raised in Paris until I moved to New York when I was around 10 years old. I have a Parisian accent in French and a New York accent in English. I have been in the higher education system for 6 years now and I love teaching different subjects to my peers and helping them as well through their academic work. I am bilingual in French and English and I believe that Italki is a great way to help people learn and perfect languages in a direct and non-judgmental manner!Me as a Teacher
I am a very flexible teacher meaning that I take into account what you want to learn and I strive to understand what exactly you need to perfect in order to reach your goals. I am also non-judgemental as I have moved to several countries so far and have always cherished the warm hospitality received. As a teacher on Italki, I also know that you are trying to learn as much as possible; thus, I will help you become fluent outside of classes by recommending you books, articles, tv shows, movies, or other quality media in the taught language.My lessons & teaching style
My lessons are very conversation-based and I will be helping you talk with ease as if you were in a real-life scenario. I am also very keen to help you develop vocabulary on subjects that are interesting to you. Every class, I will read an article or interact with media content with you outside of class so that we can both talk about it and discuss the themes/subjects in it. Understanding the spoken word in French is the hardest thing for me, but Luke speaks very slowly and clearly and he doesn't mind repeating things if I have trouble understanding what he's saying. He really wants to help and he explains things very well. An engaging individual who is very enthusiastic about teaching. Five stars.
