My name is Cornelia, I am from Pretoria South Africa. I am a teacher, a life coach, homeschooling mom and a blogger.
I love reading , writing, cooking and travelling and public speaking.Me as a Teacher
I have been privileged to teach and train people of different ages, from different backgrounds throughout my career. I have taught English to Mandarin speaking students between the ages of three to sixteen in Hebei province in China. I have worked as a freelance facilitator for Junior Achievement South Africa, teaching learners at different high schools success skills, financial literacy and basics of entrepreneurship
I have mentored and taught orphaned teenagers life skills through my organization called Purpose Driven Dynamites. I have volunteered at Rustenburg correctional services (prison) for a year, facilitating group discussions with prisoners and presenting life skills workshops.My lessons & teaching style
I use an eclectic approach, I start by assessing the student to identify his or her language strength and weaknesses.
Based on the result from the assessment I come up with a tailor made learning path for each student. I look for materials and other approaches that will make the lessons impactful, fun and memorable.
I use TPR ( Total physical response) , songs , games and props depending on what the student is comfortable with to make learning memorable and to ensure they look forward to the next class.My teaching material

English Teachers Aston EnglishTeaching English at Aston English School gave me an opportunity to teach kids of different ages. My learners ages ranged from three years to 16 years. This is a valuable experience that I am bringing to italki.

Business skills tutor Junior Achievement South AfricaI taught business skills in different high schools throughout Gauteng province in South Africa. As an afterschool program with high scholars I always had to find creative ways to ensure that the learners are engaged even after a full day of learning. I learned how to be creative as a teacher and most importantly I learned classroom management.
