My name is Catarina, Im from the south of Portugal but living and working as a teacher in Barcelona for some time now. I speak spanish with fluency and also english. I love chatting about psychology, philosophy and arts! What I love about Italki is that its a great way to expand horizons and at the same time help people with their portuguese. I spend most of my time dancing. I dance tango, contemporary and heels. I also love drawing and writing!Me as a Teacher
As a teacher, I learned that each student has different goals and needs, so I really like to get to know my student before we start our classes. The students are the ones that have been dictating what type of classes should I give and how can I construct an efficent method to teach.
Ive been teaching for almost 10 years now and what I really love about this job is the opportunity to get to know different types of people and share the knowledge I have about my country and its language. I love to share what I know about Portugal and also to get to know about my student’s countries and interests. I like to plan conversational focused classes because I feel thats the main goal for all learners.My lessons & teaching style
I find that the most useful strategy is speaking as much as we can with a native speaker, recognize structures and words and be brave enough to make mistakes. In my classes, I like to know what the students learning goals are so I can adapt my classes to my students needs. In my basic level classes theres a lot of effort putting on learning the basis of the language and its structures, but always focusing in speaking and comprehension. In my conversational classes we will just have fun, practice as much as we can!My teaching material
