Hi! My name is Gizem, I’m French of Turkish origin and I was born and raised in Mulhouse. I’ve always loved teaching French to my friends, and learning different foreign languages myself: I am fluent in French, Turkish, and English, I speak German at an intermediate level, and I am currently learning Arabic, Spanish, and Japanese. Apart from language learning, I’m passionate about science in general, music, and discovering different cultures, and I love hiking. I’m also a huge Harry Potter fan! So if you share one of these interests with me (or none, we’ll surely find things in common!), let’s start discussing in French together!

Me as a Teacher

With nearly a year of experience already on italki, I have taught people from all over the world —from the United States to Japan, including England, Italy, Taiwan, and South Korea. My lessons are fully adaptable to your style, your goals, and your interests! As a naturally organized person, I will help you find the tools and methods that suit you best to achieve the goals we set at the start of your learning journey.

My lessons & teaching style

During our first lesson, we will begin by setting your goals, discussing your needs and wishes, to best adapt future lessons. I generally use a shared document to keep track of everything we'll learn, and thus be able to see your progress. For beginners, we'll cover all the tools needed to start speaking French quickly. For example, we'll learn the basics for starting a conversation, create themed vocabulary lists, and also cover basic grammar. For those who are more comfortable, we'll work on refining oral expression and comprehension to make your French more fluent and natural. Writing and reading will be included if they are part of your objectives. Let's set your goals together now!
