👋 I’m Alba, a bilingual online language teacher based in Madrid. I’m Spanish, but I grew up in Lisbon, so I’m fluent in Spanish & Portuguese and, as I like to say, I’m Iberian, like "el jamón" 🍖. 🎬📺 Before teaching languages, I worked in cinema and television, which allowed me to travel across Spain and meet many people, but I still longed for a more meaningful human interaction. Over the years, working closely with students from all over the world has been genuinely fulfilling. 🎓 I’m a certified Spanish as a Foreign Language teacher (ELE), with specific training in DELE exam preparation. 🎯 Real-life use of the language is at the heart of my teaching. I want lessons to feel useful, personal and connected to what each student actually needs. My aim is to create a clear and supportive learning space where you can make steady progress, ask questions freely and work towards your goals in a way that feels meaningful. 📚 In personalised lessons, I mostly work with a textbook, we speak as much as we can in the target language and I encourage students to reflect and notice patterns, so grammar is understood through guided discovery. For specific goals, I also use other materials. I usually give homework. ✍️ In DELE lessons, we work on exam structure, strategies, oral practice and written tasks. 💬 Conversation lessons are more open, we talk about anything.

My lessons with Alba have been amazing - she's been so helpful as I'm reading my first book in Spanish! In preparation for our lessons, we read a few chapters, I write a brief summary of each chapter, and Alba provides edits on grammar, sentence structure, and word choice. During our meetings we talk about the content of the chapters and review my summaries. These lessons have not only been helpful for my Spanish reading and writing proficiency, but also my speaking.

I've had several Spanish lessons with Alba, and she has been a great teacher for me. She is well-prepared for the classes, and has gone out of her way to produce a programme for me. She is calm and friendly even when I am making mistakes and also maybe not making a lot of sense! I'd definitely recommend her to other Spanish students.

I've been taking Portuguese conversation classes with Alba for a few months, and it's always a pleasure. I don't have any option to practice Portuguese in my daily life, so our chats are a great addition to more traditional, grammar-focused classes I take. She is very open minded and asks interesting questions that push me to use the language in a natural way, without any pressure.
