About Me

Hello everybody! My name is Karolína and I am 26 years old. Although I was born and raised in the Czech Republic, I am currently living in Mexico. I love learning languages and discovering new cultures. I have Cambridge certificate and I use Spanish on daily basis since I live in Spanish speaking country and my husband's family and friends are Spanish natives. I would like to point out that I use and teach the Latinoamerican version of Spanish, which is slightly different from Spanish in Spain, especially in terms of accent and some expressions.

Me as a Teacher

I am not going to pretend that I am professional with decades of experience. I am in the second half of my University studies (degree in languages) and besides my Cambridge certificate I have no proof of my skills. But, I have been giving individual lessons for the five past years and many of my clients keep on coming back.

My lessons & teaching style

Every student is different. What I do is to talk to the student get to know him or her and find out his or her level of language in question. Then I ask if there is any specific teaching/learning method that they have tried and liked. If they haven't discovered what works for them I suggest different methods. The most important is that the person is feeling comfortable. I like to use movie/series clips to teach phrasal verbs or idioms; stories and news (whatever my client finds useful and interesting) to practice reading and pronunciation; some audio tracks or podcasts for improving listening comprehension (this would be mostly assigned as HW, but depends on the client); and so on.
