About Me

I am a generalist as opposed to being a specialist. I enjoy DIY and designing systems, social and physical, that provide better outcomes. I am a people and community person at heart and enjoy new people and places. I have been licensed as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, worked for 5 years in aviation and ran my own trading company for 8 years. I think I'm relaxed and easy going but always looking for ways to do things better.Me as a Teacher
I listen to my students to see where they are in their language acquisition. I use whatever is necessary to help; songs, pictures, examples, movies, conversations to assist with grammar, vocabulary, accents, idioms, news articles, books. We start with conversations and identify areas to focus on. My students are a part of my life and I consider them respectfully as friends.My lessons & teaching style
I have worked with prepared material culled from newspaper articles like BBC, Guardian newspaper, CNN etc. I have worked with pictures and descriptions which allow sentence structures to develop as well as adding vocabulary words to help.
Structured conversations as we exchange details of daily activities allow for a natural development of language skills.
My style matches the students needs but never changes from friendly polite and respectful of the challenges a new speaker faces. I create customized materials as neededMy teaching material
