Mister Paul

Highly recommended, he's patient and structures the lesson according to your needs. It's easy to have a conversation with him and he understands what you are trying to say and helps you by structuring grammar lessons around your weaknesses. I would highly recommend giving him a try if you haven't already plus he does this on a full time basis so unlike other teachers that do this part time and disappear he will always be there to continue and make sure you improve. I've been taking lessons from him for easily over a year and he's consistent and his lessons are challenging for my level (Beginning B1).

We did passé composé and imparfait today. It’s interesting to know the rules in a way that’s easy to understand! I really like how Mister Paul focuses on ensuring I understand the grammar and he also comments on the pronunciation! He mentioned how it’s easy for a listener to think that I’m saying “j’ai” instead of “je” - and that’s important feedback for someone trying to pass a speaking exam!

Today, we tackled the passé composé, and Mister Paul gave tips on how to remember when to use avoir and être. This was also a good reminder that, even if you know how to conjugate while writing, speaking is a different beast! Your brain doesn't have as much time to process when you're doing exercises while speaking compared to when you're writing. Booking a lesson was definitely a good decision as it shows me the gaps in my learning!
