I like to run and go to the gym, but I also like netflix and hanging out at home. I am a bit of book worm and love novel experiences. In my spare time I am usually studying something online because I like to learn different things, I am a person with many passions, and my greatest passion is teaching English. I am a thoroughly trained teacher with many certifications. I know how to help my students reach their goals and I have an organized and clear structure to help you. I believe the student is the center of the classroom, not me. This means I will teach you the way you want to be taught. I am flexible in my approach and use a variety of resources and activity types. I do prefer the skills based approach which means I believe that practicing grammar is best done in simulated situations. In addition, I also teach IELTS and pronunciation and am certified to teach both of these. I am a well organized and structured teacher who is patient and dedicated. All my lessons are customized specifically for you and will help you use engish in the situations that you are most likely to use it. I also have different style lessons for IELTS writing. I have in-depth lessons to get you familiar with the test and develop the skills needed to achieve a high band score.

It’s finally my turn to share my success story! I spent a very productive 2.5 months working with James and finally got the IELTS scores I needed (Overall 7 and each component to be 7 as well). If you’re a student from Taiwan (or other countries ;) ) looking for a native speaker to practice IELTS writing with, I highly, highly recommend James! Honestly, this journey was incredibly stressful. I often felt frustrated and doubted whether I was actually improving. But I want to say: if you keep a consistent routine and practice regularly, you will see progress. I’m so grateful to James. He was incredibly patient and always encouraged me with his positive, American mindset lol. Finding the right teacher on italki isn't easy—there are endless options, and many claim to be ex-examiners, but their teaching styles or personalities might not suit you. I won’t say James is the only "best" teacher out there, but if you're preparing for IELTS, I highly recommend giving James a try!
