Hi! My name is Yukari. I am a native Japanese speaker.
I learned English in England at a language school for about two years. I made a lot of friends from literally all over the world !
I got married to an American and I immigrated to the States with our two-year-old son in 2004. I've lived in Arizona, California and am currently living in Texas.
Me as a Teacher
Through teaching my son Japanese, I became very patient and I noticed that for some reason, some words or phrases cannot stick in your head. You might be embarrassed to ask me the same questions over and over but please don't be! That happens to everyone. It's just a part of the process for learning a new language!
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step!
My lessons & teaching style
While talking, I'll pick up and write down your mistakes but not fix them because I don't want to interrupt the flow of the conversation.
I'll tell you some of your mistakes and correct them or try to make it sound more natural at the end of each lesson and at the beginning of the next lesson. I'll remind you of your mistakes from the previous lesson.
The reason why I do that is because studies show that things are more memorable for the human brain at the beginning and end of an event.
You'll find out how effective my method is!
So what are you waiting for? I'm looking forward to seeing you!

Another enjoyable lesson. Yukari likes to talk to the student and not just let the time pass. This makes the student feel as though they are valued!

Yukari has such a personalized teaching style and always prioritizes the interests of her students. She connects well with people and takes notes on the hobbies, likes, and dislikes of her students. I now consider Yukari a good friend.

Excellent first lesson. Kept the conversational fun and casual, which is exactly what I was looking for! :)

Yukari-sensei helped me with my conversional skills, which I really need, she asked me a lot of questions to which I needed to respond, and I feel a lot of words I was missing, so definitely need to go for more practice. It was good to practice a real conversation situation though, I have learnt some vocab! Arigatou goizaimashita!
