From Japan

Living in Nishitokyo, Japan

Did you studied Japanese before and then stopped? We plan what to practice next, and in what order. You have worked through the apps and the textbooks. But you do not know what to do next. This is the stage that lasts the longest. In our first lesson, I ask you what you want to be able to do in Japanese. Then we work backward from that goal and decide together what to practice, and in what order. I do not use the lesson time only for my own explanations. To give you more time to speak, I ask you questions and open up new topics. I want to know what kind of person you are and what you are interested in. I started learning Spanish when I spent almost two years in the Dominican Republic as a Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer. After I returned to Japan I stopped for several years. I started again when I found a teacher who made a plan for me and gave me homework, and in 2024 I passed the DELE B1 exam. We look for practice methods that fit you. I have several that worked in my own language learning, such as making sentences from a photograph, or writing down what I hear and then saying it out loud to copy it. I also give homework. The purpose is to keep you in contact with Japanese between lessons. I completed the Japanese Language Teacher Training Program at Otemae University. Let's talk in a trial lesson. Tell me where you are now, and where you want to go.
