My name is Rafah and Arabic is my native language. I teach both Modern Standard Arabic and Levantine Arabic. I have a bachelor’s degree in Arabic Literature from the University of Aleppo in Syria and I obtained a certificate in a course that prepared teachers to teach Arabic to non-native speakers from the American University in Cairo. I am currently taking part in a master’s degree program in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers at a university in Istanbul where I have also given several lectures on the topic. I started teaching Arabic in person in 2003 and online in 2013 and I have since completed over 7000 online lessons with students from all over the world.Me as a Teacher
As an instructor, I am passionate about teaching Arabic and keen on making sure that students are comfortable and I always customize my lessons to each student’s needs. In terms of teaching materials, if you have a specific book you would like to use, I would be happy to teach you from it. Otherwise, after an initial lesson I will be able to gain a sense of your needs and I will provide you with the appropriate materials. I can also record the lessons and provide you with audio or video files that you can use to study after class.My lessons & teaching style
For all of my language courses, I use an evidence-based communicative method which maximizes language input and production so that the student can pick up the language quickly and easily. Grammar is simplified and integrated with speaking and conversations rather than taught in an isolated, abstract manner. If a student has a specific book they would like to use, I would be happy to teach them using that book. Otherwise, for some lessons I use materials that I have created myself, while for others I rely on existing books. I also use popular Syrian television shows in my courses on the Levantine dialect.My teaching material

Highly recommend! I started with Rafah because I wanted to improve my reading. We covered a wide range of poetry and prose, both classical and modern. Recently we have decided to work on my listening and speaking intensively. I cannot recommend Rafah high enough. She’s knowledgeable, patient, and absolutely professional. The longer you work with Rafah, the more she tailors her teaching in a way that benefits you the most because she knows you more — to the point where she knows exactly what words to use to help you understand. Hands down *the* best Arabic teacher I’ve had in the past ten years.

Rafa is a great teacher. I have been learning the Syrian dialect with her for about 9 months and my classes with her have helped me improve my Arabic a lot during this time. She is flexible and is willing to focus on what you want to focus on. She is very knowledgeable about the Arabic language (both MSA and dialect) and is also good at explaining the cultural elements associated with the language. She is a very likable and caring person and I always enjoy my classes with her.

I've been studying under Rafah for ~a year. I've worked with a myraid of instructors and she has been the most helpful for my growth (A2/B1 level). She speaks only Arabic for the entire lesson, writes everything you say together, and provides useful materials to study between lessons. She also has a really nice voice! No complaints, and I'd recommend her to anyone I know trying to learn/master Arabic
