¡Hola! I am Jhon Jairo, a professional Spanish language instructor from Colombia. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Modern Languages with specializations in English and French. With over a decade of teaching experience, I employ an engaging methodology that incorporates cultural elements such as literature, cinema, music, and Colombian cuisine to create immersive learning experiences. Me he desempeñado como docente de idiomas desde hace ocho años. He trabajado en todo tipo de contextos: universidades, colegios, academias, y a nivel de cursos particulares. También he tenido la oportunidad de trabajar con todo tipo de estudiantes: niños, jóvenes y adultos. Igualmente, me he especializado en todos los niveles, desde básico hasta avanzado.
I have worked as a language teacher for the past eight years. I have taught in different settings: universities, schools, private institutions, and as a private tutor. Mi estilo de enseñanza se basa en un enfoque comunicativo y por tareas. Es decir, aprenderás el idioma a través de actividades auténticas donde deberás usar el idioma en diferentes contextos. Asimismo, me apoyaré en una variedad de materiales tales como libros de textos, canciones, videos, artículos, infografías y sitios web interactivos.
My teaching style is based on a communicative and task-based approach. It means that you will learn the language through authentic activities where you will use the language in different situations. Jhon es un profesor estupendo. Es muy paciente ( no sé cómo tiene la paciencia de escucharme cuando estoy tropezándome sobre las palabras). Las clases siempre son divertidas y él utiliza los juegos y ejercicios interesantes para enseñar gramática. Siempre es agradable y es un placer hablar con él. Correge todos mis errores y trata de ayudarme a sonar más natural, como un hablante nativo. Recomiendo ampliamente a Jhon como profesor!

I've taken a few classes with Jhon at this point, and I highly recommend him for folks who are interested in really fine-tuning your Spanish language skills. He's diligent in correcting my (admittedly, many!) mistakes, but always do so in a kind way. He's a great conversationalist and pushes me to practice expressing myself as I might in a social situation with peers and friends. Highly recommend!
