Miguel -SpanishInput

Miguel is a very patient and generous teacher who knows so much about phonetics, how we produce different sounds with different positions of our tongue and lips, and the kinds of confusions that can arise for English speakers (in my case). We practised producing various consonants, and Miguel suggested some intensive and deliberate listening exercises for homework. I cannot recommend Miguel highly enough!

One of the most knowledgeable, professional, patient, and reliable teachers here on Italki. Miguel uses a variety of resources to help his students and is always present and engaged. His audio and video connection are always great and he emphasizes real, spoken Spanish over theory and grammar rules. My Spanish has improved immensely by working with him, and he always has a helpful and straightforward way to explain even the most complicated of topics.

I decided this month to take a Spanish class focusing only on pronunciation. Miguel has a talent to help you sound more polished and fluid with your pronunciation and speaking. He breaks down words into syllables which is very helpful for a visual learner. He explains how sounds are blended when natives speak quickly. No doubt learning this will improve my listening comprehension.

I appreciate his help in continuing to improve my fluency in speaking Spanish. Even though I might listen to an audio of reading material and repeat after it, I don't always pick up on how the reader is connecting the words. He helps me "hear" and say the words correctly. Miguel is an excellent teacher, who has a wealth of thoughtfully curated top quality resources to suggest to students. He is personable, patient and an excellent conversation partner who shares his deep knowledge of phonetics and phonology with his students. My pronunciation and listening skills have improved thanks to his suggestions. Now when I have oral assignments in Spanish, I practice with him beforehand to make sure my pronunciation is correct and that I connect words properly. Thus since I started working with him on pronunciation native speakers have specifically complimented my pronunciation and fluency. He fills a niche that is very important in becoming fluent in Spanish.
