About Me
italki teacher since Oct 12, 2022
Hello, I'm Catalina !
I'm 21 years old and I was born and raised in Romania.
I'm currently a forth year medical student and I couldn't love it more. For me, it's just so rewarding being able to help people and connecting with them trough it.
When I'm not (stu)dying/at the hospital, I really like dancing, watching art films, and listening to music. I actually practiced piano for a long time, and I really enjoy all the quirks about music theory.
I'm also currently studying a new language, so I know the struggle you face, but I guess struggle and mistakes are just the norm when it comes to learning anything new ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
With that said, I'll pave the way for you when in comes to Romanian <3
Me as a Teacher
As a native speaker, who understands the struggles of learning a foreign language, I would love to help you to improve your spoken skills. We can have casual discussions on any topic or more structured interactive classes where we can do reading, grammar and listening. Your Romanian level doesn't matter. We can start together from scratch.
My lessons & teaching style
My teaching style is based on patience, empathy and respect for my students, with adaptable content for my lessons based on students' needs and wishes.
I believe that the best way to learn a language is to acquire it more naturally by speaking with native speakers. Thus, through our conversations you will gain confidence and start to feel the language, while we'll be gradually adding the technical aspects. Every mistake is welcomed in the learning process. On top of that, I would also love to share videos, articles, music, and art as a way of immersing you in the culture and making practicing more fun.

I think Catalina will be an outstanding match for you as a teacher, as she is for me! We're starting the lessons with an informal dialogue, and then practicing with sentences using verb conjugations. She's very encouraging. I LOVE studying with Catalina.

Catalina is resourceful, encouraging, and patient. If you're studying Romanian, please set up lessons with her! We studied first-conjugation verbs (4 types) using simple sentences and thus studying some additional vocabulary. Catalina is inspiring, and I think that's key.

Catalina has been good at focusing on some of the most challenging parts of Romanian grammar. I do appreciate that. It was a tough lesson for me, but with her examples, I'll keep practicing. She's kind, thorough and understanding!

Catalina worked hard during this lesson to explain the finer points of demonstrative pronouns and adjectives! She was patient, and she introduced some very important subtleties in Romanian in terms of grammar. I hope you can enjoy her lessons too!

A great first lesson and I think we'll do a lot of lessons in the future.

Catalina and I took time to go through some common verbs, and it was helpful to see how avea was used as a regular verb and an auxiliary verb. We also went through a description of a regular day, using common verbs. The lesson was very helpful!
