My name is Jacob and I'm a native English speaker from the US state of Florida. My passion is learning and teaching foreign languages and, in addition to teaching English, I have learned and taught Spanish at the C1 level and am presently learning Italian. I am also passionate about travel, other cultures, health and fitness and love being in nature. I have taught English at both academic and individual levels, but especially enjoy teaching to individuals. I taught English classes to Spanish speakers in Mexico and have worked with students from a wide variety of backgrounds at the university level. I understand the challenges inherent in learning another language and, rather than strive for the elusive goal of perfection, I aim to help the student achieve communication according to his or her personal objectives. I believe that learning another language is all about context and, rather than memorize rote lists of vocabulary or perform tedious grammar drills, I aim for an interactive, conversational approach that helps the student internalize structures and produce clear, comprehensive communication.
