From Israel

Living in Jerusalem, Israel

Teaching Hebrew since 1995, and online since 2015. I tailor my lessons to the students. Shalom, I’m Dorit. Born and raised in Israel, I have 17 years of experience teaching Hebrew in the US, along with 10 years online. I’ve worked with learners of all ages in both one-on-one and group settings. My approach is warm, personal, and flexible: I tailor each lesson to your interests (food, history, etc.). Using my own recorded stories and a variety of materials we build vocabulary, grammar, and confidence naturally. As a licensed tour guide, I also teach about Israel. I’m a people person, yet focused on helping you make real progress. Lessons emphasize speaking and reading, with optional h.w. for extra practice. Please select Zoom, as I’ve had technical issues with Italki classrroom I tailor my classes to the individual student - the content and material I bring are chosen according to what you express interest in. So if you are interested in astronomy, we will learn Hebrew using astronomy; and if you want to read the Bible, we will do that. I really enjoy teaching people about Israel and Judaism, and so I also have an array of materials about these subjects. In addition I've created short recorded stories, accompanied by a PDF and a dictionary, where the student learns verb conjugation, sentence structure and vocabulary, while listening to stories. I am a people's person, and as such many of my students became my friends. However, I still make them work and advance their Hebrew. In our lessons we talk and we read. Homework is where we review and read and write.

top lesson... as I learn more and more letteres of the abc, I restarted writing single words in print and script instead of whole sentences. She was very patient with me. I made progress. Thank you, Dorit!
