I'm an avid traveler, I love learning about other cultures, meeting people with different backgrounds and learning new languages. I am currently retired and formerly worked as a professor at a university in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.Me as a Teacher
Since this is a one-on-one format teaching, I will first discuss with each student their goals and will tailor our sessions to support this goal. Based on the level of student commitment, I will add other materials such as songs, news and podcasts in Malay to further challenge the students in their language acquisition journey.My lessons & teaching style
My lessons will be focused on improving listening and speaking skills through conversation. Even for beginners, I will minimize the usage of English and will explain concepts using simple Malay words to help my students master the language. As students gain proficiency, they will be making small presentations on topics of their choice and we will use that topic as our point of discussion for that session.5.0

Great lesson! Today we discussed Malaysian food, as well as formal and informal ways of saying different things. Azizan has an upbeat, friendly way of teaching, which makes it easy to talk with him. I really loved the lesson! Thank you!

This was such a good Malay lesson that I was really excited afterwards to delve deeper into the language. Wonderful teacher who was friendly and helpful in every way! We got to know each other, and I enjoyed talking about our families. Thanks for the amazing lesson!
