Servus! My name is Nozomi. I'm a native Japanese speaker currently living in Germany. I speak three languages: Japanese, English, and German.
I have always been interested in the mechanisms of language acquisition - how we learn a new language and how we can apply this process to effective teaching. That brought me to pursue an academic and professional career in language and education.
- Bachelor in Letters; Cognitive Linguistics
- Master in Psychology; Learning Sciences
When I'm not working, I enjoy photography with my Nikon camera, cooking, yoga, and hanging out with my German husband and our two sons. We love exploring the outdoors, swimming, watching movies and sports together.
Me as a Teacher
I'm a certified Japanese teacher (passed the Japanese Language Teaching Competency Test) with over 10 years of experience. I have taught:
- Japanese language school (日本語学校) in Japan
- Junior high schools in Japan (with teaching certificates for junior and senior high schools in Japan)
- Online as a freelance
In addition to teaching, I work as a talent acquisition consultant. With experience in both recruitment and teaching Japanese, I am uniquely positioned to bridge these gaps.
I offer guidance on training business Japanese, preparing for interviews, reviewing resumes, and navigating communication and business manners with Japanese colleagues and clients.
My lessons & teaching style
I teach mainly two levels: beginners and advanced learners.
In my beginner lessons, I focus on learning basic grammar and vocabulary while incorporating plenty of practical speaking practice. I tailor the vocabulary and topics to your hobbies and interests. You can learn Japanese in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere, but I encourage you to do your best.
For advanced learners, I offer fully customized lessons tailored to your individual needs. If there is something specific you have prepared or would like to work on, please share it with me prior to the class so that we can use the class time wisely.

Nozomi-san was very prepared for our lesson! I had no idea what to expect, but she had great slides and ideas for what to talk about. She also accommodated my skill level (or lack therefore lol) easily.

今日、ありがとうございました。
Today I took my third lesson with Nozomi. She is a great teacher. The lessons are well structured but still allow for some talking about sidenotes and questions.
Nozomis teaching style is patient and kind. I espacially like the friendly atmosphere, which feels more like talking to a friend, than taking lessons. I definitly am looking forward to more sessions.

Nozomi san is a friendly teacher who is very encouraging. She can help you to practise daily conversation to improve pronunciation. She will help you to learn Japanese with daily examples at your own pace. Would recommend Nozomi san to new or experienced learners.
