Hi ! I'm Melissa, I'm French and I currently live in Luxembourg. I studied violinmaking in Belgium for 3 years, worked in this area for several years, and I've recently decided to leave this musical field in order to teach my tongue language to you ! I spend a lot of my free time outdoors : I love hiking, skiing, travelling... I'm passionate about the UK and I'll never be sick of learning English ! I'm also good at cooking/baking and I'm always willing to taste new food cultures. Finally, I like to create things by hand : sewing, drawing, etc.Me as a Teacher
I'm motivated in my studies to become a good teacher and hopefully will graduate this year. I've done loads of languages exchange online, so I'm used to manage conversations and make it natural. Thanks to my training, I have the basics of teaching now and I can't wait to start helping you progress :) I've always been a good listener and you'll feel comfortable with me ! I won't hesitate to correct you, but I'll never interrupt you, so you can learn from your mistakes as well as improve your fluency in a real and casual conversation !My lessons & teaching style
During the first lesson, we'll get to know each other and you'll explain your goals so I can adapt my lessons to you. I'll write down the vocabulary, idioms and grammar forms we discussed about during each lesson, on a text document to which you'll access to. I'm used to using Google docs, One Drive or iCloud Drive, it'll be up to you :)

Great first lesson with Melissa! We started by talking about why/how/when I learned French, and what my goals would be. We also did a "break the ice" activity where we asked each other questions. I tried to ask and respond in French as much as possible. Melissa has a good sense of when to correct my speaking mistakes and when to not interrupt the flow!

Great lesson with Melissa! We talked a bit about work. Melissa listened to an interesting program about artificial intelligence, and wanted to talk about AI with me. It was a great idea for a topic, since AI is becoming more and more a part of our lives. Melissa mentioned that people in France are worried about the environmental impacts, which I found to be very thoughtful. I really enjoyed the conversation!

Aujourd'hui, avec la prof Melissa qui a beaucoup de patience et qui est très professionnelle, en plus elle aime enseigner le Français. J'ai appris des expressions en Français, comme jeter un œil, D'une pierre deux coups, zen, et aussi des prononciations. Je comprends mieux mes points forts et mes lacunes. Pour cette raison, je dois pratiquer et améliorer ma prononciation.

Great lesson with Melissa! Melissa noticed that I was falling back to using English when I am able to use French. This is because my listening level is better than my speaking level. I agreed with her assessment and I am glad that she brought it up because it's advice that I need to hear. Lessons with Melissa are really helping!
