My name is Teacher Lazaro Abonyo. I am a Kenyan, I live in Kisumu - Kenya, the culturally rich Luo Nyanza region of Kenya. I am a passionately dedicated Swahili and Luo community tutor at Italki and would like to be your tutor too. I have good skills of teaching both kids and adults. I teach these two languages not just as languages but as culture too. Besides, I am a trained Information Technologist, a cross-cultural facilitator, a translator and an interpreter. Additionally, I am a pastor and online writer. I love mingling with new learners, my schedule is also flexible (can be adjusted to accommodate yours!). Let's get fun in interactive learning!
Me as a Teacher
When I was in high school and even in college, my major was communication skills. It is a lot of fun. I love Swahili as my national language and Luo as my mother tongue. I am fluent in them. As a community teacher am comfortable with students of all levels. I am dedicated, punctual, patient and polite.
I have interacted with learning institutions as an instructor in computer disciplines and as a volunteer community teacher of Swahili and Luo language. I also pastor a church where we majorly communicate in Swahili and Luo. I studied a diploma in Project Planning and Management and Information Technology and gained a lot of skills on matters of both written and oral communication.
My lessons & teaching style
I offer one on one or group based online teaching and learning activities via zoom platform. I give notes orally, in pdf or word document formats. I start my lessons from known areas to unknown areas. I may give assessment tests continuously to gauge my student's ability and can handle both young and adult, slow and quick learners. I do create friendly and interactive learning environments.
