I started my toki pona journey in 2019. Since then, I have spent much time teaching in both formal settings like university guest lectures, and in informal settings like Facebook. Within the toki pona community, my primary commitments are to organizing the yearly writing contest and to the sign language tokiponido, luka pona.

Me as a Teacher
I started teaching because I recognized a gap in Toki Pona learning resources with regards to one-on-one web-conferencing instruction and thought I could fill it. Since starting, I have taught folks completely new to language learning, seasoned language nerds, and even folks who are language teachers themselves!
Additionally, I can work with any level, including absolute beginners. Please let me know if you'd like me to take more of a tutoring or teaching approach during our time together.
I am testing out a pay-what-you-can model, with the minimum being $5.00 USD. Please understand that paying the minimum is perfectly acceptable, no matter your income. I don't do this for the money :)
My lessons & teaching style
Goal-focused and adaptable, these are some of my favourite methods:
- Cross-talk sessions (where I speak toki pona and you speak another language so you can start training your listening skills without knowing the language)
- Conversational practice with comprehensible input, making use of images or items.
- Translation practice (where we form and talk through example sentences together.)
We can also walk through a course together, or chat about resources may be helpful to you, or I can do traditional lecture-style as well!
I have a very flexible schedule. If there's ever a time that works for you, that isn't listed on my availability formally, reach out and we'll chat.
