My name is Yeji Kim, and I am a master’s student based in Washington, D.C. I have lived and worked in Korea, China, Canada, and now the United States, and I speak English, Chinese, and French in addition to my first language, Korean. Having learned multiple languages myself, I understand how exciting and rewarding the language journey can be but also its unique challenges. Self-paced learning can be frustrating—you often want to ask about pronunciation, hear example sentences, and learn the subtle nuances of word usage. This is exactly where I can help you! Just like you, I enjoy learning new languages & cultures. We will get along if you also like music, nature, and good conversation!

I personalize lessons so they reflect your interests, whether K-pop, history, or Korean drama, while ensuring steady progress through structured guidance. My goal is for you to feel confident, engaged, and motivated in every lesson, and to celebrate your progress at each milestone on your Korean journey.

My lessons & teaching style

My lessons are structured yet flexible. We use the Talk To Me In Korean textbook as a guide, while adding authentic materials—short stories, news, song lyrics—to deepen context. I balance speaking, listening, reading, and writing, with a focus on pronunciation and natural expression. Grammar is explained simply, with plenty of examples so you can apply it right away. I mix drills, free conversation, and cultural discussion to keep lessons interactive. I adapt to your pace and goals, helping you progress steadily while enjoying the process of learning Korean.
