My name is Rose. I am a first generation American who is half Belarusian and half Ethiopian. I am a native English speaker who is relatable, has some teaching experience, and has a desire to help others want to better their English speaking skills. I have a background in Music education and graduated with a degree in that. After I graduated I did substitute teach for a year. I enjoy getting to know others and having meaningful conversations. Forcing one to speak in the language they desire to learn is the best way to learn that language. I am married and have one son. I did volunteer work for nearly 2 years advocating for a child in need. I have a passion in teaching and helping others.
Me as a Teacher
I have a lot of education in pedagogy as well as experience in the classroom setting working alongside teachers and students. Throughout my course of studies I had to create lesson plans and as well as conduct the lessons. I also was a tutor for many years in the elementary schools. As a tutor, I worked in title 1 elementary schools where I was assigned to a classroom and helped the teacher in whatever ways they may need my help and work one on one with students who need that extra support. I student taught for an entire semester from grades kindergarten through 12th grade. The best teachers are those who can connect and inspire their students through meaningful interactions and lessons.
My lessons & teaching style
My lessons will involve a topic and conversations involving that topic. The best way to learn a language is to listen, comprehend, and talk in a conversational setting. As the conversation is going I will be there to help guide and correct the student. This approach allows for the student to go outside of their comfort zone and to push themselves to speak fluidly and comfortably in the language. I am there to work with students who already know the basics of English but who need extra practice speaking it with others.
