Hello! I’m Denise, your friend from the United States. I have lived in Chiang Mai, Thailand, for three years. In my free time, I enjoy reading books, especially science fiction and mystery stories. I am also trying to learn Spanish and have found that watching TV series is a good way to learn new words and grammar. I sometimes use clips from TV shows or films in my lessons to help you learn. I have an old Pomeranian dog. He loves to sleep and lie in the sun.

Me as a Teacher

I love seeing my students become more confident when using everyday English in casual environments! I have been teaching English for 2 years. I have taught in a kindergarten and in a language school. I enjoy teaching students of all ages and levels. I help young children build foundational skills. I also help students prepare for the IELTS speaking and listening tests. I make lessons for each student’s needs. I teach everything from beginner vocabulary to advanced grammar points. I can help you understand how people from America think, speak and live!

My lessons & teaching style

I make lessons interactive, fun and practical. I create a positive and comfortable environment where you feel confident speaking, making mistakes, and improving through challenging learning points. I use screen-sharing to explain grammar points clearly. This helps you see examples and explanations, making it easier to understand difficult concepts. Listening and speaking activities help you build your confidence and fluency in real conversations. I create worksheets to check your understanding and help you review what we’ve learned. I share short clips from TV series or films when certain grammar points or cultural contexts are being demonstrated.

EFL TeacherNES Study Abroad - Chiang Mai, ThailandCreated and curated study materials for students to target their specific learning goals. Taught students at A1 through C2 levels, one-to-one private lessons, group lessons, etc. Helped students preparing for IELTS exams(bands 4-5 and 5-6.5).

2023 - 2024

K3 EFL teacherInternational kindergarten - Chiang Mai, ThailandSupported children who began their studies online during the COVID-19 pandemic and were then being introduced to in-person learning with a NES. Taught phonics, simple grammar concepts, and introduced students to Readers and reading practice. Taught simple math concepts. Twice a week, we also taught enrichment courses using Key To Learning curriculum.
