Miriam

Fantastic teacher. Miriam is very patient and helpful with a friendly bubbly character. First lesson was a great experience.

I’ve now had 17 lessons with Miriam. That should tell you how much I enjoy and appreciate our conversations!

As you can see from my previous comments, I am a big fan of Miriam. One of the things I really appreciate about her is how flexible she is in our lessons. She typically prepares some questions for me to answer and discuss as part of the lesson, but very often, my answers tend to remind me of questions I have about other subjects or anecdotes I want to share. None of this phases her and as I have mentioned before, they make our conversations more realistic and enjoyable.

Even though I feel more comfortable and confident in speaking Italian, I still get frustrated with myself when I can't find the word or phrase that I'm looking for. I really appreciate how patient Miriam is and that she doesn't rush in every time to fill in the missing words. Another thing I really appreciate is that she never talks down to me or dumbs down our conversations.

There are many positive things I can say about Miriam (and I've said them in previous reviews). But perhaps the best thing I can say is that after every lesson, I am even more excited about my Italian language journey. Miriam doesn't try to correct every mistake I make (and there are a LOT of them). Instead, she gives me the space to find my way (or at least try to) and, if I'm still stuck, she will make a suggestion. For me, this is the best way to learn and get past the fear of making mistakes.

When you are learning a foreign language, it’s not so much about how much the teacher knows. It’s about the personal qualities that the teacher brings to the lessons and that is what makes Miriam such a great teacher. She is intelligent, relaxed, engaged, enthusiastic, and perceptive. She is easy to learn from and I never feel as if she is going through the motions. I enjoy our conversations.
