CELTA-certified, multilingual English teacher with a BA in Germanistik and Creative Writing Over the past 10+ years, I’ve worked as a professional foreign language consultant in English and German, with experience ranging from teaching and tutoring to direct consultation on the language-related aspects of my students’ professional projects. I aim to cultivate a fun and educational learning environment in which my students can practise and improve their understanding and range of expression. My courses are highly adaptable to my students’ language levels, learning time frames, and desired focus/intensity, whether we decide to read English/German literature together, speak conversationally, or stick to the fundamentals of grammar and usage in a more traditional CEFR-style course.

Eine sehr nette engagierte Lehrerin die mit Spaß und Kreativität alle Stunden interessant gestaltet. Sie spricht fließend Deutsch was das Englisch lernen mit ihr sehr erleichtert. Sie liebt Sprachen und das merkt man auch, wenn man Stunden mit ihr Bucht. Ich kann sie nur jedem weiterempfehlen. 😊

I had my first introductory lesson with Maria Athena and really enjoyed it! She was well-organized and shared helpful tips on how to improve my vocabulary. She had also prepared a practical exercise that we worked on together during the lesson. A great first experience!
