My teaching journey began in South Korea, teaching high school English for 13 years. Those years in the classroom shaped me both professionally and personally, giving me a solid foundation as a teacher and deepening my passion for education. Moving to New Zealand with my family, I brought with me the experiences and insights gained from my career in South Korea, and I’ve continued to build on that passion ever since. Teaching has been something I truly love and believe in. This commitment to education is what has driven me to continuously seek out new ways to reach and support my students. I have volunteered for 6 years as a news presenter doing translating at Korean Catholic Radio Station.Me as a Teacher
I taught high school students with Level 1 Teaching Licence in Seoul and after relocating to New Zealand, I operated an English Academy for seven years, where I worked with students from various backgrounds and helped them develop their language skills. Currently, I teach Korean language, literature, and history at the Auckland Korean School, where I support students who may struggle with Korean fluency, as many were born or raised in New Zealand. This role has been incredibly fulfilling, as I help them reconnect with their heritage and strengthen their language skills. I also have a strong interest in teaching Korean to non-native speakers, introducing the culture as well.My lessons & teaching style
With decades of teaching experience, I am skilled at identifying each student’s strengths and areas for improvement. My approach is to highlight their strengths while addressing and supporting any challenges they face. I prioritize using visual aids, like PowerPoint presentations, to create a multi-sensory learning experience that engages both visual and auditory understanding.
I also carefully consider each student’s age and previous learning experiences, tailoring lesson plans to meet individual needs. My focus is on building comprehension and retention through ample practice, guided by personalized learning plans that cater to each student’s unique pace and learning style.My teaching material
