Greetings! My name is Kai, a student at Osaka University, one of Japan’s leading institutions. Over the years, I’ve worked with international students from diverse backgrounds, offering insights into mastering Japanese for daily life, academics, and professional settings. I hold a certified teaching license and have achieved top marks in competitive academic challenges, including essay examinations. Representing Japan at an ASEAN students conference honed my cross-cultural communication skills, and I’m committed to helping learners achieve their Japanese language goals with tailored support and encouragement.
Me as a Teacher
Since my teenage years, I’ve volunteered to support foreign students in adapting to Japanese schools, teaching Japanese and providing guidance in both Japanese and English. At university, I’ve continued this work, living alongside people from around the world and gaining firsthand insights into the challenges of learning Japanese. Growing up in Kyoto, with its rich cultural traditions, I attended a Buddhist temple-affiliated school. This unique background enables me to share both linguistic and cultural knowledge, whether you’re starting with hiragana or refining your academic Japanese. Let’s make learning an engaging and enriching experience together!

I greatly appreciate my Japanese learning experience with Kai. He speaks English fluently and personalizes the lessons to meet my needs, giving me the material in advance. Moreover, he is very kind and is open to adapt the teaching method following my feedbacks.
Over the course of the weeks, I have seen concrete progresses in my Japanese language skills.

Kai is a very skilled and patient teacher. He understood my needs and adapted the lesson materials to cater to them. He is very knowledgeable and has given me a lot of new bits of information about how real Japanese is used, in contrast to 'textbook' Japanese.
When we practice conversational Japanese, he speaks in a natural way, which is useful for getting me used to the normal speed of Japanese speech, even though it means that it's too quick for me to understand sometimes.
I look forward to more lessons, and improving my speaking and listening skills!

I booked a lesson with Kai to get recommendations about Kyoto and Osaka for my upcoming trip. He made a lot of recommendations for both cities in categories I asked about. Thanks Kai! I'm excited to visit Japan.
