I speak spanish and a little English.
I like talking with people from different countries and learning about their cultures.
My lessons are friendly, relaxed, and focus on natural conversation.

Me as a Teacher
☆In March 2024, I studied language teaching methods based on neuroscience with Dr. Takashi Terashima.
After that, I began teaching on italki, applying what I learned.
I speak Spanish and a little English, so even complete beginners with no Japanese knowledge are welcome!
Let’s enjoy learning together!
My lessons & teaching style
☆FOR ADVANCED LEARNERS:
Practice Japanese conversation freely. You can talk about anything you like. While conversing, you will learn new vocabulary and practice using the grammar you’ve studied in real-life situations. I mainly use the italki chat box to share correct Japanese expressions and vocabulary.
☆FOR BEGINNERS:
Learn basic grammar and practice conversation using slides based on the textbook GENKI. During the lesson, we will focus on speaking a lot with the new grammar you’ve learned so that you can actively use Japanese in conversation.

Lessons with Sana-sensei are continuing to go really well. We've been very briefly reviewing grammar concepts (as needed) from the first half of Genki 1, but working primarily on my speaking and listening skills since that's where I'm struggling.
Conversation practice with Sana-sensei is a lot of fun, not scary and intimidating like I've found attempting to speak Japanese in the past. I also have to say, Sana-sensei has been _such_ a good sport about all the weirdness I'm throwing at her in response to "simple" ice breaker questions. I've decided I need to memorize how to say "It's complicated" (fukuzatsu desu), because: A) my life is, in fact, pretty complicated, and B) I'm really challenging her with how to translate things that don't have direct Japanese parallels, like university after degrees and what the appropriate choice of counter would be for multiple university majors. XD

I have been studying for years and have always had a textbook lessons and never had just free flowing conversation. Sana sensei was great helping and guiding me through my self introduction. She was very patient with me and I am looking forward to my next lesson which is already booked.

I really wasn't sure what to expect since this was my first time using iTalki, but my trial lesson with Sana-san was excellent. We talked about my background with learning Japanese and what I'm struggling with, and I think she has a good grasp on what we need to work on going forward. This was also my first time (ever!) attempting to have an actual conversation with someone in Japanese, and I'm inclined to say that I was a hot mess of a conversationalist, but I managed to muddle my way through what I was attempting to say with Sana-san's assistance.
I feel like I learned a lot for how little time we actually spent attempting to converse. It was great! I've already signed up for more lessons.
Sana-san is also very humble about her English skills. I think she's quite good! It was easy to communicate with her in both written and spoken English.
