4+ Years | 4,000+ Lessons |I help 📖 learners speak naturally without relying on their textbook. You've bought bunch of textbooks. You've done the Duolingo streaks. And yet — the moment a real conversation happens, your mind goes blank. I KNOW that feeling. And I KNOW exactly why it happens. こんにちは! I'm Kana, from Kyoto 🍵 — Japan's ancient capital. I studied English all through school in Japan, then went abroad to the US and Canada. And when someone said "How's it going" — I froze. Completely. Not a single word came out. All those years of study. Gone in a second. I still remember the heat in my face. The way I looked at the floor. The voice in my head that said: maybe I'm just not good at this. That moment changed how I teach forever. Most Japanese language programs — even professional ones — use the same method Japan used on me: grammar and rules first, speaking later. In my lessons, you will never read a sentence like "Watashi wa shinbun wo yomimasu." — "I read the newspaper." Nobody says that. Nobody needs that. Because here's what I know after 4 years of teaching: language only sticks when it's connected to something real — a moment you've lived, a conversation you actually need, a feeling you want to express. My lessons start with your real life — the exact situations you are walking toward. The Izakaya. The family dinner. The workplace. We practice the conversations that actually matter to you, until they stop feeling like Japanese and start feeling like you. 📚Book a trial lesson. Tell me the moment you're most nervous about. That's exactly where we start.

I love having kana as my tutor. We’ve been working together for about 6 months now and I’m very happy to have her as my teacher. Would t trade her for anyone else!
