The ability to speak a foreign language confidently is one of the most empowering skills we can possibly learn. I help intermediate and advanced adult students build upon what they already know and become more confident and capable English speakers.
I hold a TEFL certification and a bachelor’s degree in English, with a concentration in linguistics.
I have lived in several different countries (Italy, Hungary, Ukraine, and Brazil)! I love learning languages, especially Ukrainian and Italian, and doing crafty hobbies (knitting, cross-stitch, and sewing).Me as a Teacher
Are you ready to go beyond simple conversation and be challenged to use English in different ways? Are you eager to level up your vocabulary (and learn plenty of useful phrases like "level up"?) Do you want thoughtful corrections so you can sound more natural when you speak?
In my lessons, you can expect specific and useful feedback - but never too much at one time. The most important thing to me as a teacher? I want you to feel encouraged, not overwhelmed.
I create plenty of time and space in my lessons so that we can go at your pace. I always consider your interests and learning style.My lessons & teaching style
Lessons with me will force you to stretch and use every bit of English you know! You'll get to answer questions such as "Tell me more about x" or "What are some other meanings of _____ that you know?" or "What's another way we can say ___?"
For every lesson, I'll give you quality materials (usually a PDF or a slideshow) on interesting topics that include videos, readings, exercises, and more. Through speaking-focused activities, we'll help you expand on what you know and become more calm and confident about your speaking skills.
If you'd like homework, I will provide it! My students each have a Google Doc document where I write this, a list of what we learned, and additional feedback.My teaching material

Claire is a wonderful teacher! She adapts to my needs and provides a variety of discussion topics and materials. Unlike other teachers, she does not try to monopolize the conversation, but really gives you time to speak. She makes suggestions but, she also lets me be the one spotting my own pronunciation/grammar mistakes or that I find a better expression. She asks if I know the name of a specific item or action, which I personally love because it helps me to broaden my vocabulary. I asked her for some writing assignments and she always sends me feedback. In addition, she ALWAYS uploads the new expressions we discussed in class and some feedback about the lesson. I don't think that every teacher does that.
In short, teachers like Claire are few and far between and I can highly recommend her 😊

Claire is amazing! Her classes drag all the conversation out of you so that you forget you're speaking your second language and feel as fluent and connected as if you were talking in your native tongue. The topics are interesting and require you to use all your available vocabulary. I highly recommend her!

I truly appreciate the effort she puts into preparing my lessons. She always provides great materials and her dedication makes learning with her a real pleasure.
(I really enjoy being challenged and she seems to know exactly how to push me in the right way to improve!)

Perfect first lesson. I really like her way of teaching (so far as I can tell by now :-)
My focus right now is on conversation and to get used to talk English again, to loose my uncertainty, to find the right words and to build propper sentences, so that other people understand what I'm talking about.
