Hello!! I'm Wakako!! I'm from Kumamoto, Japan, and I've been living in the United States for about 15 years. I graduated college in the US. I learned English from zero, so I know the excitement and hardships of learning different language!Me as a Teacher
I am friendly and talkative. I enjoy teaching Japanese and sharing our culture.
I'll do my best to help you understand and to answer any questions. I may not be a professional teacher, but I want to be like your friend who can enjoy conversations and doesn't make you feel afraid of making mistakes. My main focus is to make you feel confident in Japanese and to teach you real practical Japanese (not just text book style)! My lessons & teaching style
★ Intermediate to Advanced level learners:
The lessons are mainly on conversation styles. I believe that the best way to improve language skills is through actual conversations. I would like you to apply the grammar and vocabulary that you have learned and get used to using them. I will teach phrases that fit better and sound more natural in the conversation as we go by.
★ For Beginner learners:
We will enjoy having a conversation in Japanese. I'll try to correct the mistakes as we go by and teach you the phrases fit more naturally in the conversation. If you already have some knowledge about Japanese and want to try to use the phrases/words/grammar you learned, this is the lesson for you!My teaching material

Wakako is very friendly and energetic teacher. As an English speaking adult learning Japanese for the first time, she speaks English well to help me understand the Japanese language. She was patient and taught me useful conversational phrases and gave me ideas on how to begin reading/practicing Hirigana. Even after the first lesson, I feel like I can already introduce myself in a formal and simple way. I definitely recommend Wakako as a Japanese teacher.

Wakako is kind, patient and very thorough. She's calm and focused, which makes it easy to feel comfortable during the lesson. We've done conversation classes and I've really appreciated how she always has a topic suggestion so that I do not need to focus on both speaking and coming up with a topic. I've really enjoyed my lessons with her, thank you Wakako! 💐
