Bruce

Bruce is an excellent teacher! He tailors each lesson to the student's skills and goals. Today we chatted for a few minutes (in ASL) and then we practiced expansion techniques. Bruce is always prepared with materials on the whiteboard, and he includes lots of examples for practice for each concept. He is very kind and encouraging, and he's good at explaining features of ASL that do not exist in English. I'm looking forward to our next lesson!

Excellent introductory lesson with Bruce. I learned everything that I needed to know about his teaching approach, the supplemental and supporting materials he provides and experienced a brief but helpful sample lesson, got to discuss my interest in sign language and aspects of my background. It’s clear that he has vast, useful experience as an educator and as a bonus our interaction was friendly and lively from the outset. I decided within the first 10 minutes to continue lessons with him and look forward to getting started in earnest!

Bruce did a great job of quickly figuring out exactly the level I needed us to sign at and sticking with signing the entire time! I felt super confident signing with him but also stretched in my abilities just enough that I feel like I leveled up a ton during the lesson. Great teacher if you want someone who will challenge you but not intimidate you!

The trial lesson yesterday was great, this first lesson was exceptional. I learned so much in these 60 minutes that I’ll be thinking about it for days, including aspects of Deaf history, culture, and signing patterns among various groups that I would’ve never considered or thought about. Bruce is also great fun to learn from and interact with. He is professional and knowledgeable, and as a bonus is also kind, has a lovely sense of humor.

I highly recommend lessons with Bruce. I have been taking lessons with him for a couple of months now. It has been a pleasure. As an educator myself, I appreciate his methodology and care. After every lesson, he provides feedback and start the next lesson with a review, which has been really helpful. He really met me at my level and has tailored lessons to challenge me without overwhelming me. He is a great teacher.
