Me as a Teacher
Professional Japanese teacher based in the UK, teaches in English as well. Born and raised in the Tokyo area, friendly and accommodating to all :) Looking forward to seeing you in a trial lesson!
My lessons & teaching style
In my lessons, you will see slides filled with illustrations. You will also have a lot of opportunities to listen, speak, read and write Japanese, and you will learn how to use practical Japanese.
If you are a total beginner, I am happy to teach Hiragana & Katakana from scratch, step by step. Then, I would recommend you the best textbook from “Minna no Nihongo” or “Irodori” to study with me, according to your needs and wishes.
I can also provide “Survival Japanese for Travel” (usually 3-4 lessons), which will enrich your visit to Japan even more.
For those at an Intermediate level or above, “Let’s read the Bible in Japanese” is available.

Today we started with the workbook and practiced reading and speaking. Kyoko sensei was patient and helped when I had a problem with it. It was nice that at the end she emphasized that the exercise had been successful. The book is entirely in Japanese, and looking at it gave me the feeling that I really couldn't do anything with it. It was very encouraging this way.

Excellent first lesson! She came well-prepared and she did an excellent job of guiding the conversation. She was open to teach whatever I wanted to learn, but she also had well thought out topics that we could center our conversation on. I'm excited to take more lessons!

It was a wonderful lesson because it gave me confidence in speaking Japanese. The teacher was so nice to be flexibel with the program since I will be visiting Japan shortly. We practiced some useful sentences and she asked me if I would like to build them in until I am on my trip. So nice of her!

Today was another good lesson. We discussed how to address people and what the differences are. There was a lot of room for questions and Kyoko sensei adjusted the lesson when we discussed katakana. It is very pleasant to work together in this way.
