Hello! My name is Tara, and I'm originally from Canada with both British and Canadian nationality. I have worked for over 13 years supporting people from all walks of life, and I am passionate about creating safe, encouraging spaces for growth and connection. I now live in Portugal and love learning about new cultures, languages, and ways of life. I'm friendly, patient and genuinely interested in people's stories.

I specialize in conversational English and confidence-building. I understand how nerve-wracking it can feel to speak a new language- so my teaching style is calm, enouraging, and relaxed. My background working in social services has given me a deep respect for different perspectives and communication styles. I tailor each lesson to your needs and interests, whether that is everyday conversation, vocabulary building, or improving pronunciation and fluency.
I kindly ask for at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson. This helps me adjust my schedule and offer the time to other students. If you cancel within 24 hours of the lesson, the lesson fee may not be refundableMy lessons & teaching style
My lessons are informal, interactive, and focused on helping you speak naturally and confidently. I like to:
-Talk about topics you enjoy
-Correct mistakes gently and explain them clearly
-Build vocabulary and expressions useful in real-life situations
-Offer encouragement and practical feedback to keep you progressing
We can discuss travel, culture, daily life, work situations, or anything that excites your curiosity. I can also guide you in writing, reading and listening if you'd like a more structured approach.
To give you the best possible lesson, I manually approve bookings to allow time to prepare personalized materials. Any specific goals or topics? Just let me know!Education
