My name is James, born in Kenya and currently living there. My professional background is in Information Technology, but I’m also a passionate novelist and poet, which gives me a deep love for expression and storytelling—skills I bring into every lesson.

Me as a Teacher

Though I don't have formal teaching certification, I’ve taught informally for years—mainly in computer studies—and found that teaching is something I do naturally and love deeply. This passion led me to apply as a Community Tutor on italki. To further share my love for language and culture, I also started a YouTube channel focused on teaching Gikuyu (Kikuyu).

My lessons & teaching style

My teaching style is warm, patient, and conversation-driven. I guide relaxed sessions where the student can speak freely, make mistakes, and grow naturally. I gently correct their grammar or pronunciation, introduce useful vocabulary, and offer real-life practice. Their comfort and progress are always my focus.
