Hello, I’m Mearg, a native Tigrigna and Amharic speaker from Shire, Ethiopia, with fluency in English. I specialize in teaching beginners through dynamic, multimedia-based lessons—incorporating music videos, PDFs, and interactive dialogues to enhance engagement. My approach combines foundational grammar, contemporary expressions, and cultural context to create a well-rounded learning experience. Beyond teaching, I have a keen interest in football, music, cinema, and literature. I’m excited to guide you on a structured yet enjoyable journey to mastering these languages while sharing insights into their rich cultural heritage. I have worked in three different language classes over the past two years. I provide photos, videos (including translated lyric music videos), and PDFs—personally edited by me—for free to make the classes engaging and fruitful. I offer a student-centered approach in my lessons, and my students really enjoy that! My lessons include grammar, vocabulary, formal and informal language, sentence and paragraph formation, casual and modern expressions, dialogues, and debates. My teaching style is student-centered and supported by multimedia. Lessons include engaging activities and well-organized homework assignments.

Interrogative sentences are a fundamental tool for communicating with people from other cultures. To me it is a complex topic, since it involves both  knowledge of verb conjugaions in the various tenses, as well as correct usage of the right auxiliary verb, in addition to deciding which of the three question patterns would be the best to convey our query. But I'm confident that based on Mearg's gradual and methodical apporoach, these complicated  structures will soon become clear and simple 🙏🙏

I had my third lesson with Mearg and I'm super excited to continue! He is always prepared, very patient, super nice and able to explain very well. He uses different teaching methods which I'm excited to try and he has a very structured and knowledgable way of teaching. I can't wait to learn more!

Mearg is a great teacher. I'm slowly learning to build my confidence and understanding of the Tigrinya language with his help. I'm developing my vocabulary and grammar understanding thanks to him. 10/10!

Etymology is a powerful tool when coming to learn a foreign language. It's interesting to see how innocent-looking words are actually compounded from other individual words that create a new "shortcut" with almost the same meaning. Such cases can serve as an indicative for researchers of the ancient world, as they approach to investigate the period in which a certain text had been written. Thanks to this interesting tool of etymology, it's much easier to memorize the vocabulary of our new topic in Tigrinya 🙏🙏 Looking forward to the next challenge !!

Every now and then I challenge myself trying to understand the Tigrinya TV news, where each sentence is carefully articulated and every syllable is prononced perfectly by the newscasters. On today's lesson, upon reviewing a short sentence from a news item, we explored several manifestations of verbs that appear to be similar, however, they actually belong to different verb families. We encounter these verbs not only on the news, but also in everyday phrases and even as part of lyrics of popular songs. Thanks to such great lessons, the Tigrinya news jargon becomes understandable and friendly !! 🙏🙏
